TWO APOLOGIES?

I am disappointed about Mayor Matt Brown’s proposed apology on Friday to the LGBTQ community, and not also to me, for Mayor Dianne Haskett’s 1995 refusal to make proclamations. My request in March 1995 was for a city-wide “True Love Waits” chastity campaign.

I had written Haskett asking her to co-operate with London board of education director Darrel Skidmore in a joint campaign for chastity since city hall ends up paying welfare to unwed teenage mothers.

Haskett replied, “During my term of office as mayor, I will not be making any proclamations with respect to sexuality, whether it be heterosexuality, homosexuality or celibacy.”

I hope Brown will either make no public apology or deliver two apologies.
